FAQ

Yes!  We offer CCS-eligible long day care sessions to our kindergarten families before and after the kinder day, on non-kinder days and during the school holidays. Please note: we do not offer one-off, casual sessions without at least one permanent weekly booking, but additional casual days are welcome, subject to availability.

Yes, we have regular incursions, such as Peninsula Health dental, Living Safely with Dogs and Bunnings. Our 3-5 long day care children and our kindergarten children participate in walking excursions to Bush Kinder, Regis Aged Care and Eastbourne Primary School as well as Beach Kinder in their four-year-old year.

Long day care

Children attend at least two orientation sessions of approximately an hour each the week before they start. These sessions are not charged, and a parent/carer remains on site. Some children benefit from more than two sessions, and this can be arranged as needed.

Kindergarten

Both three- and four-year-old kindergarten groups have a staggered start, with children building up to full sessions over the first two weeks of the year

Long day care

We have a two-week closure (no charge to families) in Dec-Jan to allow our hardworking staff to spend the holidays with family and to ensure our rooms get a full reset, including carpet shampoo, and linoleum polish. Apart from that period, long day care is open throughout the year, closed for public holidays.

Kindergarten

Kinder is open according to the Victorian school terms.

Under-3-year-old

1:4. This is in compliance with Victorian regulations.

Over-3-year-old

Victorian regulations require a 1:11 ratio for 3–5-year-olds, however, at Seawinds we believe a higher educator-to-child ratio results in better educational and health outcomes for children and less stress and burnout for staff. Therefore we ensure our daycare and kinder programs have at least 3 educators per 22 children, which ensures a maximum ratio of 1:8.
